(Yes, I am finally catching up with my reviews)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
When I started reading this book, I didn’t think I would give it a 5 star. How wrong was I!
The book is a slow burn, a dark satire with very comical moments but very intense themes.
There are so many feelings flowing through this book, set against Sri Lankan civil war, it explores the after life of Maali, a morally grey protagonist.
If you want to give this book a real shot and are not a fan of slow burns, I STILL recommend sticking it out, because towards the end, you will have formed an attachment to all the characters and the beautiful writing of Shehan Karunatilaka!
The turmoil of political unrest and the toll it has on the civilians, lgbtq theme, heartbreak, cruelty, love and regret. This book bas it all.
Highly recommend ❤️
